We are pleased to announce that starting September 2008, the School of Social Sciences will again bring you the Social Sciences Capstone Seminar Series. To promote scholarly interactions, we are opening many of the seminar sessions to members of the SMU community as well as any individual from the intellectual community outside SMU (e.g., NUS, NTU). Capstone seminars are conducted by invited speakers who are mostly SMU professors in psychology, sociology, political science, and the humanities, but occasionally there are also invited speakers from organizations outside SMU. The primary aim of this seminar series is to help develop a multi-disciplinary mindset to approaching and understanding real-world phenomena and issues, by applying the knowledge, skills, and experiences acquired in the various disciplines.
We have listed the various seminar sessions below so that you can mark your calendar.
A seminar announcement will be sent out in the form of an email about one week before each session, so that you could electronically register (free of charge) for the session. If you are interested to attend a specific seminar session, do register early when you receive the seminar announcement because seats are limited -- 50 seats have already been reserved for senior students in the BSocSc programme who will be attending the session.
Unless otherwise stated in subsequent announcements, all sessions below will be held on Wednesdays at 3.30pm and it will last for about 2 hours. Venue is SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Level 5, Seminar Room 5.2.
We look forward to seeing you in some if not all of these sessions!
